REBECCA  TILBURY

Rebecca graduated in 2006 with a Law & Sociology degree from The University of Warwick. After graduating, Rebecca joined the Trade Mark and Design team of an international law firm, and during this time was exposed to a wide range of issues surrounding Trade Marks, Designs and Copyright. 

Whilst working in a full service law firm, Rebecca was exposed to and assisted with IP elements of corporate transactions including acquisitions and providing specific trade mark due diligence support. Rebecca has had experience of global assignment programmes, in particular for a well known automotive company, and has advised on the protection of non-traditional trade marks including colours and shapes. 

Rebecca has also assisted with a re-brand on a global scale which involved full clearance searches and advising on infringement risks, as well as practical and commercial issues. Rebecca also has experience of domain name disputes, having assisted with actions before Nominet. 

Rebecca advises clients on the protection and management of their trade mark portfolios, encompassing all aspects of trade mark protection from clearance searches, prosecution and registering of trade marks, to advising on infringement and enforcement and she has had experience of advising on design registrations and enforcement. Rebecca has worked for a wide range of clients, from the fashion and entertainment industry through to financial services and food products. 

Rebecca is a member of the UK Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) and is currently studying towards the final Institute Qualifying Examinations. She is also a serving student member of the Institute Education & Training Committee. Rebecca won the “John Parker Memorial Award” in 2007 which is presented by ITMA for achieving the highest mark in the UK Trade Mark Practice Paper. 

Rebecca has actively written articles on topics such as IP blogs and shape and smell trade marks for leading publications such as Trademark World, Marques Magazine and the business section of the Yorkshire Post. 

Rebecca joined Harrison Goddard Foote in September 2009.
