Rosemary’s practice is primarily in the field of mechanical engineering. She has wide-ranging experience of preparing patent applications and taking them through to grant in the UK, EPOand elsewhere in respect of domestic / low-tech products, medical devices, non-woven textiles, aircraft and vehicle parts, papermaking machinery, filtration equipment, security equipment and products used in building and DIY and many other types of product.
She has been heavily involved in defending a client (successfully) in US patent litigation and also has experience relating to UK patent litigation also, as well as handling several European patent oppositions. She has particularly worked cost effectively for many small to medium - sized businesses in acquiring patents and all associated advice.
Alongside patent work, Rosemary has always undertaken registered design and trade mark work, and is a member of the Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys. She has considerable expertise in registration of trade marks and related matters in the UK, European Community and overseas and has handled many contentious trade mark opposition and invalidation actions. She also has experience of managing and merging major trade mark portfolios.
Rosemary entered the patent / trademark profession in 1980, qualifying in 1984/5. She has worked in several private practice firms in Manchester, joining Harrison Goddard Foote in 2003 and becoming a partner in May 2004.
