Chris has extensive experience in the fields of radio communications, electronic article surveillance, electronic retail merchandising systems, computer software, chemical engineering and process intensification, civil engineering including piling and foundation technologies, road surfacings and markings, bridge expansion joints, electrochemistry, novel metal coatings, fire retardants, piezoelectric materials and nano-technology. He relishes the challenges presented in helping diverse clients protect their innovations from inception to commercial reality.

Much of his practice involves working closely with SMEs, often born out of promising academic research by major UK universities, helping them to develop effective intellectual property strategies and secure multi-million pound venture capital investments. He also works with in-house patent attorneys and senior executives at major multinationals, and has expertise in worldwide patent prosecution.

Chris is fluent in German, and is experienced in acting before the Opposition and Appeal Divisions of the European Patent Office in Munich.

After taking his first degree and postgraduate diploma at Christs College Cambridge, Chris entered the profession directly in 1991, training with a large private practice firm in London. He qualified in 1995, and joined Harrison Goddard Foote as a partner in 1999.
