Vanessa’s career in intellectual property began in 1993 and she now specialises in a range of subject matters in the mechanical and electrical / electronic fields, in particular medical devices such as injection devices, orthopaedic instruments and medical implants. In addition to patent work, she advises on trade mark and design matters.
After graduating with a degree in electronic engineering, Vanessa spent a period as a software engineer, following which she entered the profession as a technical assistant at a Norwich-based patent and trade mark practice (1993 to 1998). There she gained a broad range of experience dealing with both private and corporate clients in all areas of intellectual property protection. In 1998, Vanessa joined a large commercial law firm,where she completed her qualifications as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney.
In 2000, Vanessa joined Harrison Goddard Foote as a partner, based in the Sheffield office. Today she is permanently based in Sheffield and advises a wide range of local, national and overseas clients.
