Senior Associate
Specialising in the fields of biotechnology and chemistry, Punita has particular experience in the areas of pharmaceuticals, genetics, plant biology and molecular biology. Her practice encompasses drafting patent applications and overseeing their prosecution in the UK, Europe and overseas, opposing and defending granted patents before the European Patent Office, and advising on infringement and validity issues.
Punita also has first-hand experience of foreign patent systems, having worked in Australia and prosecuted, opposed and defended applications before the Australian and New Zealand Patent Offices. She has worked with a range of clients, from private individuals, universities and small start up companies to large international corporations. As a result, she is experienced in providing advice on patent portfolio management and filing strategies.
Punita joined the profession after graduating in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University in 1995. She qualified as a European Patent Attorney and UK Chartered Patent Agent whilst working for a London based firm. In 2002, she relocated to Sydney, Australia, where she worked as a Patent Attorney for 15 months, before returning to the UK and joining the Manchester office of Harrison Goddard Foote in April 2004.
