Technical Assistant

Rachel graduated with a 1st Class Honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Sheffield and was awarded the Krebs Prize for obtaining the highest degree mark in her class. After graduating, Rachel continued to study at Sheffield for a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. Her doctoral research focused on the role of RNA binding proteins in the developing nervous system and led to two publications, including a contribution in a text book describing RNA interference in model organisms. Rachel’s PhD project utilised awide range of biochemical techniques including recombinant DNA technology, cell culture and immunohistochemistry.

Rachel’s degree provided her with specialist knowledge of biochemistry along with a broad grounding in the other molecular biosciences. In her final year Rachel used X-ray crystallography to successfully determine the atomic structure of the protein Phosphoglucose Isomerase.

Rachel joined the Leeds office of Harrison Goddard Foote in January 2009 to train as a patent attorney. Her professional interests lie in the field of biotechnology, biochemistry and pharmaceuticals.
